I've been a member of this site for a little while and have ummed and ahhed about actually doing anything on here as it seems that it's rather dead, there's been bugger all activity on here for quite a while. I suppose the old 929 is going the way of the dodo and has little interest these days, which is a damn shame. I actually feel quite alone in my enthusiasm for this car of late. Only a few years ago the topic of discussion for the 929 was all ado, now it seems that it's long forgotten :P

Anyway, this is an introduction so...

I have my 929, a Series 1 HC, for about 10 years now and still love driving it. I have made a few enhancements since owning it and virtually modified, replaced or repaired everything mechanical on it, save for a couple of items. But they are on the hit list too :) I had a bingle in the front end several years ago and replaced it with Series 2 bits, I think the Series 2 front end looks much smarter.

This vehicle seems to be at the stage now where it really only gains interest from enthusiasts. There is still a few to be found around the country, some in good working order, some not. I just recently purchased another one, which is in excellent condition, bar the gearbox, and with 6 months rego on it. I am the third owner of the car since it was built. I purchased it as a parts car mainly, as bits and pieces are getting harder and harder to find, it is almost too good for that though. But if I cannot do anything with the gearbox without major expense then it will remain off the road and be relegated to a donor car :)

There is many things I like about the HC 929, some have been innovations by Mazda, the styling certainly does not scream at you, which is fine by me, but among the many things I love about the car now, is its relative uniqueness and rarity :)

I do miss the discussions about this car among other enthusiasts though.

Hiya Matsuda, unfortunately there's only 24 hours in the day, if only we could do everything :) Spammers are a bloody nuisance. Is there any way a captcha API can be added to the site, being required to fill one out for making a new post?

It's great to hear that you still have the old 929 and have ongoing plans for it :) It's good to know there are still some 929 enthusiasts out there :) It's brilliant that your missus understands your enthusiasm :) My missus understands mine too, I'd certainly love to spend more time on my car, but she wouldn't be particularly happy if I spent all of my spare time on the car :P I guess it's all about balance.

It would seem that the 929 has been relegated to the realm of enthusiasts only these days. I still see a few advertised here and there, some are in pretty bad shape, but some crop up that have been looked after. If I had the dollars and the space, I'd buy up every one I could find and have my own little parts emporium. The way it's going with these cars it won't be long before that becomes a necessity :P Being few and far between, and not exactly a car that revs most people up, I suppose it's understandable, and inevitable :)

Cheers.
