Hi guys,

Its great to find this site. There is hardly anything on the net about the 929s.

I have a 1992 HD with Leather. Loving it. Its got the ussual front oil leak that I need to hunt down and also a cracked top tank in the radiator that I need to sort out.

Heres some pics. Plan on putting some new stereo gear in it and just have it as my daily cruiser.

welcome to our humble home. :)

the front leaks on J motors are usually the crank seal and the cam seals. fairly simple really, especially if you have to do your timing belt :)

the good old plastic tanks, a few places can change just the tanks... some could replace them with alloy tanks (the way to go) worth the money if you intending to keep the car and the core is in good nick.

Well picking up the Radiator this arvo. $220 for a brand new one. Lets hope its the right one.

Also I'm running thermo fans, no more clutch fan. Adds a lot of room to the engine bay too.

Ill need to sus that out. Car has only done 145000km so timing belt wont be due for a bit longer now. Ill try and hunt down the leak and go from there.

Ny4n do you know if any wreckers in Perth have one or 2 of these 929s?

Hey mate how did you get rid of the clutch fan? I think mine's gonna die soon.. I can stop it spinning with my fingers haha.

Did the previous owner do timing belt at 100,000km? The leak is either Cam seals or rocker cover gasket. if its rocker cover gasket.. its cheap about.. $400 but if its cam seals..... good luck!

I know Mazparts in Midvale has a few parts for these cars. I never really needed any second hand parts so I don't go there often but I know parts will cost you an arm and a leg. Whatever you do make sure nothing happens to the headlights cause they're about $700 brand new and any second hand one will be all yellow and hazy.

Best thing to do is buy another 929 if you can find one that's unregistered or yellow stickered and use it as a parts car. I saw one for $800 but I didn't have the money to buy it on the spot. Shame.

Fans are mounted on the radiator and it has a temp switch that runs from a copper sencer.

I am not sure. I dont have a log book for it but will have a look under the bonnet for a sticker. Looks like im going to pull it appart anyway to check out these leaks.

Yeah I found they had one, but your right they want heaps for the parts. Ill keep my eyes open for a parts car i guess.

Put a new radiator in it tonight, and going to put in a new thermostat on the weekend. Found out the hard way that the Thermostat is on the bottom hose. haha.

sucks how rare these cars are in Perth. Everytime I see one its like OMG LOOK! haha. but most of them look all run down and paint faded and stuff. We should have like a 929 only cruise for Perth.

Yeah I have only seen a few.

Cruise... with 2 cars. lol Need some more people.

So found out tonight a thermostat is $150. Lucky I can get it for $100 which is pretty much cost, but still not liking this cost of these parts. Had a commodore, $12 for a thermostat in that. haha

I should go on a hunt for 929s and leave notes under the windscreen wiper asking them if they wanna cruise. Spotted a Green "P" plater just yesterday with a HD but he was going opposite direction sadly.

$100 for a thermostat... I guess luxury comes at a cost.
