HID retrofit

Post by alpha » Thu Jun 03, 2010 10:01 am

alright. im planning on retrofitting projectors into my headlights.
so my stock bulbs/wiring are for H4 type.
now do i have to match up the projector to my wiring or not?lets say i found some projectors of toyota windom.but bulbs in them were HB3.
or it doesnt matter what projector i use...all i need is just to get one of those HID kits of ebay or something?

Those kits definitely make life easier for you, because it comes with the necessary relays that are needed to convert to a HID setup.
About your first questions, I'm not too sure. It might matter, it might not. Hopefully, someone can confirm that shortly for you hopefully.

as long as they are high/low setup (to match the original wiring) i don't think it would matter what type of bulb in the projector.... but you will need to get HID to match the bulb

i have heard some real horror stories about ebay kits, but at the same time i heard that they are great....

well i checked a few wirings and lets say windom had 2 pin plug, mine is 3.
this is just confusing at the moment...
but looking on hidplanet.com and seems like they using all sort of projectors on all sorts of cars.like a e55 merc into maxima/cefiro...
i guess that works, just need to get proper wiring to match my wiring and bulbs.
ebay was just an example, ofcourse i will get some decent quality stuff...dont want to burn my car out:)
