92 HD Electrical problems

Post by trevor » Tue Apr 27, 2010 7:02 am

Hi,
I have a '92 HD 929 4WS. Great car in terrific condition however have a couple of intermittent & probably unrelated problems.
1/ Recently engine has cut out a couple of times. It has happened after sitting at traffic lights then when starting off to turn the corner the engine has cut out. No rough idle etc beforehand. When I put it in neutral it starts OK & it doesn't happen again if I try to reproduce it. Engine is warm when this happens. Have checked to see if any loose connections - can't find any problem. Could this be a sensor problem ? Any advice or suggestions ?
2/ For the last 6 months or so occasionally when trying to start the car all I get is a click. Try it a few times & eventually it allways starts. Then only happens occasionally & most of the time it starts first go. I know it's probably the starter motor on the way out however I don't want to shell out a few hundred bucks for a replacement unit only to find this isn't the problem. It has happened when I tried to start it in Neutral so I don't think it's the Park sensor. There is a "start cut" relay - what does this do?
Any help or suggestions appreciated.
Trev.
