Mazda has topped the polls at this year’s Carsales Network People’s Choice Awards, taking out three of the mass market passenger car categories for the second consecutive year.

Australia's favourite full-line vehicle importer secured the Light, Small and Medium Car category awards with its top-selling trio Mazda2, Mazda3 and Mazda6 respectively.

The Carsales Network People’s Choice Awards are the country’s most comprehensive analysis of new car purchasing trends. Based on genuine new car enquiries across the Carsales Network of automotive websites, the results are tallied from more than 300,000 new car shoppers.

Impressively, the stylish and refined Mazda6 has been voted Best Medium Car seven times. Mazda3 has been Best Small Car six times, and Mazda2 is Best Light Car for the second year running.

Carsales managing director Greg Roebuck says Mazda’s passenger car trifecta is a true testament to the strength of the company’s brand in Australia.

“The results of the Carsales People’s Choice Awards strongly reflect the sentiments of private new car buyers,” he said.

“Given we are Australia’s first choice for new car enquiries, these awards give a clear indication of where buyers are spending their dollars and the strength of the respective models in their categories.

The Carsales Network praised Mazda’s top-selling small car saying: “Mazda3 is once again the most popular small car, and with good reason. No surprises the well-styled, well-priced hatch and sedan has a lot of fans considering the line-up includes everything from diesel-powered sipper models right up to the giant-killing turbo Mazda3 MPS.”

“As for Mazda2, this snazzy little car continues to punch above its weight in areas of safety, and pricing also helps its case, meanwhile the ever popular and good-looking, well-equipped Mazda6 line-up continues to win fans,” Carsales stated.

Mazda Australia managing director Doug Dickson is delighted to take home another Mazda trifecta.

“The Carsales People's Choice Awards are of particular significance to us as they are voted on by the people who actually buy cars, the Australian public,” he said.

“To win the trifecta two years running is proof that Mazda’s core passenger vehicle range continues to meet the needs of Australian consumers in what is a highly competitive new car industry.”

The People’s Choice Awards are based on public votes collected from the Carsales Network's websites, including Australia's number one auto site, carsales.com.au, CarPoint.com.au and Redbook.com.au, as well as leading new car shopping destinations, DiscountNewCars.com.au and PrestigeNewCars.com.au.
